If you see a major increase in the traffic to your Internet site and in case after you check the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from countries across the world or from other web servers, your website is more than likely being attacked by an automatic bot. These pieces of software go through random Internet sites aiming to log in to their administration area using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments under every article where this type of an option is available. Unfortunately, that's something relatively popular nowadays, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you could block them, so the bots won't be able to access your Internet site in any way. Certainly, you can block IPs even if you allow only people from particular countries to access your site.

IP Blocking in Web Hosting

If you have a web hosting account with us and you wish to block one or a few IP addresses, you could use the IP Blocking tool, that's incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a pretty simple interface, you are able to prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to do this is to log inside to your CP, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to select a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You shall not have to do anything difficult if you'd like to block a whole network - you'll just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed in the same exact section, so you shall be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with only a click.
